About Metro Health

Non-surgical Stay

non-surgicalMetro Health has a long tradition of excellent patient care that focuses on the whole patient and not just a person’s illness or injury. As such, Metro Health patients frequently comment on the quality of their care and the dedication displayed by our caregivers.

Quality

Every area of Metro Health is known for the excellent care it provides our patients. Here is a sampling of the evidence of this high quality care:

  • Metro Health has been named a Top 100 Hospital three years in a row by Thomson Reuters (2006, 2007, 2008). Top 100 Hospitals are selected from over 3,000 hospitals nationwide. Patients at Top 100 Hospitals often have shorter hospital stays and experience fewer complications than patients at other hospitals. This award is one of the top recognitions any hospital in the United States can win.
  • Metro Health is accredited by Healthcare Facility Accreditation Program (HFAP), an organization which has been accrediting hospitals to ensure they meet national quality standards for over 60 years. HFAP is authorized to accredit hospitals by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Metro Health is one of only 6 Michigan hospitals and one of 93 hospitals across the country to win a 2008 Silver Performance Achievement Award from the National Cardiovascular Data Registry for outstanding treatment of heart attack patients.
  • Two years in a row, Metro Health received the Governor's Recognition of Excellence and Governor's Awards for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care in the Hospital Setting in three categories: Emergency Department, Surgical Care Improvement Project and Appropriate Care Measure.
  • Metro Health received a 2008 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence for work in the area of heart failure and pneumonia.
  • Metro Health has participated in the Michigan Health and Hospital Association (MHA) Keystone: ICU project since its inception in 2003. The goal of this project is to reduce or eliminate the incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia by following a specific set of guidelines for patient care.
