Metro Health has announced plans to open a neighborhood outpatient center in Allendale – its 13th in West Michigan.
Pinnacle Construction Group is seeking zoning approval for a 17,000 square-foot facility at 6218 Lake Michigan Drive during the May 28 meeting of the Allendale Planning Commission.
Metro Health plans to occupy approximately 9,500 square feet of space in the facility, and has reserved 4,500 square feet for future growth. The remaining 3,000 square feet will be utilized by an orthodontist.
Metro Health plans to offer a full array of services, including family practice, sports medicine, physical therapy, ultrasound, mammography, laboratory and X-ray services to residents of Allendale and to Grand Valley State University students at its new facility. Expanded services are likely in the future and could include: pediatrics, internal medicine, ob/gyn and other practice areas through Metro’s expanding network of specialty physicians.
"We are really looking forward to breaking ground on our Allendale facility, which is part of a planned expansion of our neighborhood outpatient centers," said Carrie Knobloch, vice president of real estate and operations at Metro Health. "We appreciate the hard work of Allendale Township Supervisor Jim Beelen, Allendale Township Planner Phil Brummel and the team at Grand Valley State University to turn our vision into reality."
After securing zoning approval, Metro Health plans to break ground on the new facility in July. The neighborhood outpatient center will be open in the summer of 2009.
"We are very excited to be expanding our services into this area," said Dr. Frank Belsito, vice president and chief operating officer of Metro Enterprises. "The phenomenal growth of GVSU has led to the rapid expansion of Allendale. We look forward to being part of the Allendale community and to growing alongside it."
