Posted: April 23, 2010
Metro Health Chief Nursing Officer Ingrid Cheslek has received a Nursing Excellence Award from the West Michigan Nursing Advisory Council, or WMNAC, for her impact on the profession of nursing.
Cheslek, who is also executive vice president of patient care services, was one of the charter members and a previous chair of WMNAC, which
was formed a decade ago to address the nursing shortage in the community. As a nurse leader, Cheslek has been instrumental in the group’s efforts to provide quality nurses for West Michigan today and in the future by partnering education with service. Today, the group is working to address the educational gap that exists for new nurses working in hospitals.
Cheslek received the award at the group’s annual gala on April 13. At the event, Jeanne Roode, current president of Kappa Epsilon was also recognized with an award. She was recognized for her leadership and support of scholarships and nursing research.
