Metro Health Hospital Foundation Announces Winter Grants

The Metro Health Hospital Foundation has approved more than $92,391 in grants to support programs and services provided by the Hospital.
Ten grants ranging from $272 to $40,000 will support a wide variety of initiatives, including a fund for breast cancer and cervical cancer prevention, grants for equipment to better serve a variety of patient needs, assistance for multiple in need communities and to support additional staff and community education.
The 2010 winter grants include:
- Funding to support screening and diagnostic testing for 50 uninsured or underinsured women who are at risk of developing breast or cervical cancer
- Uniforms for each special needs student volunteer gaining work experience by assisting Metro Health Hospital staff in the café
- Funding to offer free screening for peripheral artery disease and abdominal aortic aneurysms that will coincide with National Heart Health month in February 2011
- Funding for the Child Passenger Safety Program that will provide child safety seat staff certification, community safety awareness and safety checks as well as providing car seats to be available at a reduced cost for patients in need of financial assistance
