Medical Coding Seminar Can Benefit Metro Health Foundation

Posted: February 14, 2011

Metro Health coders and office managers will have the opportunity to learn about ICD-10-CM while donating to charity.

Judy Breuker, founder of Medical Education Services and an approved ICD-10-CM trainer, will present a half-day seminar on the new coding system on March 9 at the Priority Health Conference Center, 3111 Leonard NE. The presentation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The program is limited to the first 60 registrants and requires a $75 donation to either the Metro Health Breton Food Pantry or another West Michigan charity.

Topics will include:

  • An overview of the key components of ICD-10-CM
  • A review of the ICD-10-CM official guidelines
  • Practical coding examples

"Correct coding can make a significant difference in revenue for a hospital," said Marcia Prenger, director of patient business services. "It is important that all procedures, tests and treatments are entered into the system in order for reimbursements to be accurate for our doctors. I hope that our coders and office managers take advantage of this timely educational opportunity and make a donation to help our underserved patients through the Metro Health Breton Food Pantry."

The registration form is available at under the "Upcoming Events and Classes" listings. Please print the form and mail it with your payment to: Medical Education Services, LLC, P.O. Box 549, Hudsonville, MI 49426-0549.
