Dr. Bret Doud is the Physician Best of Metro

Dr. Bret Doud is an anesthesiologist with Anesthesia Medical Consultants and has been on staff at Metro Health since 2009. He is a graduate of University of Virginia Medical School and completed a transitional residency year at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. He completed residency training in anesthiesiology at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. He is currently the Chairperson of the Anesthesiology Department and is active on the Medical Executive Committee.
Dr. Doud was selected as the Physician Best of Metro because of his work to promote patient safety, excellent patient satisfaction scores, his attention to documentation, ability to handle difficult situations and more.
People nominating him wrote, “Dr. Doud displays a serious commitment to providing a safe patient environment. This is evident through his willingness to address issues, improve documentation, change processes, etc.” They also said his dedication to keeping patients safe helps him provide the best community experience; “he is not willing to compromise patient safety or employee integrity when it comes to doing what is right for the patient.”
When he learned about winning the Physician Best of Metro award, Dr. Doud stated that he considers it an “honor and a privilege to work at Metro” and that he feels like he is making a difference here. He stated that he loves Metro, and it is undoubtedly the friendliest place he has ever worked.
Dr. Doud has been married to his wife Nancy for 27 years. They have two children, one of whom is a premed student at Hope College and another who is a high school senior and hopes to attend Michigan State University. When he is not at work, Dr. Doud enjoys woodworking, learning to weld, fly fishing, brewing beer and hunting.
