Metro Health Hires New Clinical Director for the Assisted Breathing Center

Metro Health Hospital announced today that Edward Matusik has joined the hospital as clinical director for the Assisted Breathing Center, or ABC.

Matusik will be responsible for administration, collaboration and coordination of department activities among all hospital departments and the medical director. He will be in charge of planning, directing and evaluating services to ensure safe and competent care to patients in the ABC.

A registered nurse, Matusik brings more than a decade of healthcare experience to his new role. Prior to joining Metro Health, he most recently served as clinical supervisor for the Sparrow Health System in Lansing, where he provided direct supervision for 80 staff members as well as regulatory compliance for a 36-bed long term acute unit.

He has also served previously as a readiness consultant for Trinity Health System in Farmington Hills, as a clinical nurse educator for Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, and as a nursing supervisor for Spectrum Health’s Grand Rapids and Greenville locations. He also served in the U.S. Army as a registered nurse/shift supervisor.

Matusik earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lake Superior State University and master’s degrees in nursing and business administration in healthcare management from the University of Phoenix.

 He currently resides in Rockford with his wife, Brenda, and children, Alex and Anna.
