“I am pleased to announce that after a national search, we have hired West Michigan resident Dr. David Duffey as our new chief medical officer,” said Mike Faas, president and CEO of Metro Health. “This is a testament to the quality of medical leadership we have right here in our own community. I am especially excited for David to join the Metro Health team because he brings extensive knowledge of West Michigan to his new role.”

Duffey has served as a board member of SHMG, an assistant professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, clinical and faculty preceptor at Grand Valley State University.

He was named Outstanding General Educator by the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners and received the Community Service Award from Holland Community Hospital Foundation. He is trained in healthcare delivery improvement and is certified in patient safety. Duffey has presented numerous healthcare topics, including hospital pediatrics and quality and safety in healthcare.

He holds a bachelor of arts from Kalamazoo College and a doctor of medicine from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Physician Executives.
