Dr. Adam Wolfe Named Physician Best of Metro

Dr. Adam Wolfe is an Internal Medicine physician with the Metro Health Medical Group and has been a part of Metro since 1998. He started with Metro as a base third year medical student from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City. Dr. Wolfe complete medical school in 2000 and went on to complete an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Metro. His excellence in care and teaching was evident throughout his training as he was named Intern of the Year in 2001 and Resident of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
Dr. Wolfe is board certified in Internal Medicine and, along with his private practice, has served as the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director since 2008. He is active in the community as the current president of the Kent County Osteopathic Association which allowed him to represent Michigan for the AOA House of Delegates. Dr. Wolfe is Metro’s physician champion for the West Michigan Glycemic Collaborative. He currently serves as chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee and remains active in promoting and organizing continuing medical education activities, including the annual Metro Heart and Vascular Winter Conference.
Dr. Wolfe was nominated because of his excellent patient care, teamwork and interactions with staff, along with his commitment to quality educational experiences for students, interns and residents in training.
Dr. Wolfe states “receiving the Physician Best of Metro is an honor and it affirms my belief and commitment to Metro and to the high quality medical care provided for the Grand Rapids community. I’m humbled to receive recognition for something I feel so passionate about.”
Dr. Wolfe said his favorite Metro memory was witnessing and being an integral part of the transition to the new Metro in 2007. Dr. Wolfe also stated that his tenure as program director continues to be very gratifying as he sees the successes of the graduating residents and knows that he has had a part of their training.
Dr. Wolfe is very happy in his current position. He says it provides a good balance between teaching and practice which fits with his personality and career goals.
Dr. Wolfe is married and describes his wife as “an amazing woman”; they have three daughters. Dr. Wolfe is active in ice hockey and triathlons. He feels it’s important to practice the physical activity that he counsels his patients on every day. He strives for the perfect life balance between work life and family life.
