Make a Difference for Years to Come
Donating real estate and other capital goods:
Donating real estate or other capital goods is a great way to make a gift!
Life insurance or retirement plan assets as a gift:
Metro Health Hospital Foundation may be named as a beneficiary in your life insurance, IRA, or other retirement plans. Consult your qualified agent or representative concerning completing a beneficiary designation form.
Proceeds from individual trusts:
There are many types of trusts a donor can establish to support Metro Health and continue to provide for themselves or family members. Some examples are Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, or a Living Trust. We are happy to work with you and your financial advisor to arrange the trust that best suits your needs.
Donating securities and other appreciated assets:
Giving stocks, bonds, and mutual funds can often provide greater tax benefits than a cash gift of equal value, especially if they were purchased on a low cost basis. It maybe possible that you will avoid capital gains tax – money that you would pay if you sold the property.
Donating from your IRA:
If you are at least 70 1/2 years old, you can make direct transfers – up to $100,000 – to the Metro Health Hospital Foundation from your IRA, without paying taxes on your distribution.
If you would like more information on any of these ways to give, please contact the Foundation at (616) 252-5000 or email@example.com.
Examples of Planned Giving Wording
Bequest from your will:
Bequests are the most frequently used planned gift. A bequest allows you to make a significant contribution that may not have been possible during your lifetime. It is very important that the appropriate wording is used in your will. Following are examples of general statements to include:
A specific dollar amount:
“I bequeath the sum of $_______to the Metro Health Hospital Foundation, located in Wyoming, Michigan to be used or disposed of as its board of directors in it sole discretion deems appropriate.”
“I give all the residue of my estate, including real and personal property, to the Metro Health Hospital Foundation, located in Wyoming, Michigan.
Percentage of assets:
“I give to the Metro Health Hospital Foundation, located in Wyoming, Michigan ____% of my estate, to be used for carrying out health care purposes and to be expended as its board of directors deems appropriate.”
“I give to the Metro Health Hospital Foundation, located in Wyoming, Michigan (describe the real or personal property, including exact location.)
I give the residue of the property owned by me at my death, real and personal, and whatever situate, to (Person’s Name) if he or she survives me. If (Person’s Name) does not survive me, I give my residuary estate to the Metro Health Hospital Foundation, located in Wyoming, Michigan.
It is recommended that these examples and gift vehicles be brought to the attention of your advisors before implementing them into your plan. Self-made documents may result in unintended results.
