Emergency

What is triage?

Triage is a system of sorting that is based on giving treatment first to the patients who need of it most. When you are brought into to the Emergency Department, a skilled triage nurse will start by conducting a brief exam. Based on this assessment, the nurse will decide what immediate steps should be taken.

Ensuring you are treated based your clinical urgency is a priority for your triage nurse. You will be assigned to the best treatment area for your condition. As a result, you may not be taken to a treatment area in the order of your arrival to our Emergency Department. However, it is very important to us that you are seen as quickly as possible.

If there are any changes in your condition or you have any questions while in the waiting room, check with the triage nurse.
