Non-Invasive Peripheral Vascular Procedures

Arterial Vascular Ultrasound Exams

What is this?  This procedure provides blood flow information at different areas on each leg.

What happens during the test?  You’ll be asked to lie on an exam table.  Four blood pressure cuffs will be applied to each leg and one to each arm.  An ultrasound Doppler will be used to evaluate blood flow and blood pressures. Warm gel, which helps transmit the ultrasound, will be applied to your legs and arms.  Blood volume recordings will be taken at each cuff site.

Preparing for the Test:

  • Take all your medications at your regularly scheduled time, unless your physician tells you otherwise.

Helpful Information:

  • This test does not use any needles.  Wear comfortable clothes to the test.  You may be asked to undress from the waist down.  You will be asked to lay flat for the majority of the exam.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
  • Plan on your appointment lasting approximately 45 minutes.
