Meet Our Medical Team

Metro Health is pleased to offer comprehensive pediatric services at three locations in the Grand Rapids area. Our board certified pediatricians are committed to providing expert care with a personal touch for infants, young children and teens.

Meghan Coleman, DO
Metro Health Southwest

Dr. Coleman received her medical degree in Missouri from Kansas City University School of Medicine and Biosciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine. She did an internship at Metro Health Hospital before completing her pediatric residency at DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. She has been with Metro Health Southwest since 2010.  

Tiffany A. Letts, MD, FAAP
Metro Health Southwest

Dr. Letts received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed a pediatric residency and chief residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, and practiced in Baltimore before joining Metro Health in 2010. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the National Health Service Corps. 

Alaa Salhadar, MD
Metro Health Southwest

Dr. Salhadar is a pediatrician and neonatologist who has been with Metro Health since 2004. He completed medical school in Damascus, Syria, and completed a pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Salhadar is very active in teaching medical students, interns and the nursing staff. 

Anita Vanderstelt, DO, FAAP
Metro Health Jenison

Dr. Vanderstelt received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and did her pediatric internship and residency at Michigan State University Sparrow Regional Children’s Center. She enjoyed working in rural, underserved areas of Michigan for 6 years before relocating to the Grand Rapids area. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  

Anita Vanderstelt
Laura S. Bouch, DO, FACOP
Metro Health Caledonia

Dr. Bouch received her medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where she also served as chief resident. Dr. Bouch uses osteopathic manipulative medicine in her practice and also has a special interest in treating allergies and asthma. She is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. 

Susan Johnson, MD, FAAP
Metro Health Rockford

Dr. Johnson received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She did her residency at DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids and has been a practicing pediatrician for more than 13 years. She provides comprehensive pediatric services and has a special interest in treating asthma. Dr. Johnson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Kurt Meppelink, DO
Metro Health Hudsonville

Dr. Meppelink received his medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Services in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his pediatric residency at DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids and has been practicing for more than 18 years. Dr. Meppelink has earned a number of certifications and is an associate professor of pediatric medicine at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine.
