Metro Health Hospital Foundation Hosts Most Successful Feelin’ Grand

Return to News & Events

Metro Health Hospital Foundation hosted its most successful Feelin' Grand fundraiser ever, raising nearly $400,000 to aid in the fight against cancer. A record 900-plus attendees participated in the Foundation's signature event in late September.  Proceeds raised will allow the hospital to purchase state-of-the-art equipment designed to identify breast cancers earlier.  Metro Health has a partnership with the University of Michigan to provide radiation-oncology services to its patients through a new cancer center at Metro Health Village.

"We are deeply gratified by the level of support received for this year's Feelin' Grand event," said Laura Staskiewicz, chief development officer of the Metro Health Hospital Foundation.  "The generosity of attendees and hospital supporters will allow us to invest in life-saving equipment that will benefit the entire West Michigan community.  This event was truly a celebration."

Feelin' Grand, which is an annual black-tie event, has been held since 1993.  In addition to a dinner, and dancing, a number of presenters shared their thoughts on how cancer has touched their lives.

"I am fortunate enough to be standing here today because my cancer was diagnosed early," said Joyce Weise, a 14-year breast cancer survivor.  "Early detection does save lives.  Thank you for helping me and fellow cancer warriors as we continue our life journey filled with hope and health."
