    Teaching Tomorrow’s Physicians

At Metro Health Hospital, we understand the vital role education plays in our society. To meet the needs of tomorrow’s health care specialists, we’re committed to helping students receive hands-on learning experiences in a wide array of medical disciplines.

As a result of this dedication, Metro Health Hospital has established itself as a major teaching hospital for osteopathic physicians. Our affiliation with the Statewide Campus System of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and our local membership with the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners have strengthened our ability to prepare physicians for the competitive and rapidly evolving health care profession.

All of Metro Health’s residency programs are accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, and are in the process of transitioning over to the Single Accreditation System. Metro Health received Institutional Accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) as of July 1, 2015. The residency programs are in various stages in this transition process, from initial accreditation and to pre-accreditation/continued pre-accreditation.

Metro Health’s residents are also eligible for benefits. Click here for information about Metro and benefits at a glance, or here for a more in depth look at available benefits.
