Research at Metro Health

Metro Health launched its clinical research department in 2009. The department supports outcomes research and clinical trials for various Metro Health service lines including, but not limited to, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, neuroradiology and oncology. A component of the clinical research department, the Metro Health Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversees human subjects research at Metro Health. For any questions related to the IRB process, including submission, review and approval, contact Jennifer Rice at (616) 252-5026.

Research Consultations

The Clinical Research Department has arranged for Dr. Mummadi to be available by appointment during the first and third Friday of every month from 1-2:30pm to discuss research projects with new researchers. To schedule a meeting, please email Marie Sieplinga at Also, it would be appreciated if you brought a copy of your draft proposal to your scheduled time. Resources from the Research Department and HRPP/IRB will also be present.
