    Outpatient Health Care

Metro Health’s commitment to health and wellness extends far beyond the walls of Metro Health Hospital. While we’re happy to offer excellent inpatient hospital services, our goal is to keep people well and out of the hospital.

To that end, we provide a full range of outpatient services including primary care and family physician offices, laboratory services, physical therapy and imaging services at outpatient centers located throughout the greater Grand Rapids area.

At these centers, primary care physicians can provide patients with diabetes standardized care as outlined by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association. This assures that patients receive evidence-based care designed to reduce their chance of adverse reactions to the illness. Most of these physicians are NCQA-certified in diabetes care.

Additionally, the physician’s offices now use electronic medical records. This lets physicians update medical records immediately and view your records more quickly.

Patients can also sign up for the free MyChart service at participating physician’s office. This service allows you to go online and view parts of your medical record, renew prescriptions, schedule appointments, contact your physician and more online.

  • Quality of Outpatient Care

Metro Health has won the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Physician Office Services every year since 2003 when the honor began. But it’s not the Governor’s Award that matters most. It’s when Metro Health outpatient center patients – such as elite athletes who work with physical therapists specially-trained in sports medicine and women happy that they can have their mammograms close to home – tell us they like the care they’ve received, that we know we’re doing our job.
