    Leapfrog – Metro Health was named a Top Hospital and received an “A” for Patient Safety. 2016

    Performance, Excellence, Achievement and Knowledge (PEAK) Award – Metro Health received this award from VHA for sustained excellent performance in the Patient Experience category. In 2014, Metro Health was the only Michigan hospital to receive this award. 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015.

    Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence – Metro Health was recognized by VHA for sustained excellent performance in the Clinical Excellence category. 2013, 2015.

    Emergency Department Wait Times – Metro Health’s Emergency Department was recognized by Hospital Compare as one of the hospitals in the nation with shortest emergency room wait times. Metro’s ED wait times were clocked in at four minutes, the only West Michigan hospital to make the list and only 13 hospitals in the nation had shorter wait times than Metro. 2015.

    Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification – Received from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program. 2018.

    Silver Performance Plus Achievement Awards Received from the Quality Registry “Get with the Guidelines” program, or GWTG, a national standard of quality for patients with stroke. 2014.

    Platinum Performance Achievement Award Received from the NDCR ACTION Registry® GWTG for sustained achievement in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) patients. 2015.

    American Heart Association Mission Lifeline® Silver Plus Recognition – Recognizes care of patients with heart attacks resulting from complete blockage of at least one main coronary artery, also referred to as STEMI or segment elevation myocardial infarction. Awarded to Metro Health for meeting 85 percent or greater composite score with no single measure below 75 percent on a variety of clinical measures. 2014.

    HealthStream Awards of Excellence – Recognized with two awards: HCAHPS Overall Inpatient Experience and CG-GAHS Overall Rating – Ophthalmology (Metro Health Ophthalmology – Douglas Doyle, D.O.) 2014.

    Michigan Peer Review Organization (MPRO) Governor’s Awards – Metro Health received two awards for outstanding achievement in reducing health care-associated infections in the acute care hospital setting and for outstanding inpatient clinical achievement in the acute care hospital setting. 2014.

    Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) – Reaccredited for three years. June 2014.

    HIMSS Level Six for Ambulatory & Hospital – Metro Health has been cleared as a stage six organization. 11 percent of organizations out of 5,000 surveyed can claim that distinction. For Ambulatory, 6 percent out of 20,000 organizations are at this stage. Being one of the higher staged organizations proves Metro’s accomplishments at the implementation and use of EMRs. 2013.

    Excellence in Patient Care Award – Recognized by The Studer Group for receiving results with an “Overall Rating of 9 or 10” on the HCAHPS patient survey. 2014.

    Excellence in Patient Care Award – Named “Most Achieved” for work in the Discharge Information composite ratings on the HCAHPS patient survey in the value-based purchasing category from The Studer Group. 2012, 2013.

    Women’s Choice Award – Metro Health Hospital received this award from Women’s Certified for being one of “America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience.” Criteria included quality physician communications, responsiveness of nurses and support staff, cleanliness and trust referrals from other women. 2013.

    #1 for Percent Compliance of ED CPOE Orders – Metro Health was recognized by Epic as the number one organization among all Epic customers for percent compliance of the use of computerized order entry within the emergency department; the compliance was over 98 percent. The higher the compliance, the more likely the computerized order entry has helped drive safety and quality. 2013.

    Consumer Reports – Metro Health was recognized with a top grade for surgery from Consumer Reports. See the September 2013 issue.

    Patient-Centered Medical Home Designation – Blue Cross Blue Shield recognized the following Metro Health physician practices in 2015 (one-year recognition):

    American Heart Association Mission Lifeline® Metro Health received Bronze Recognition for at least 90 days of 85 percent or higher composite adherence to all STEMI Receiving Center Performance Achievement indications and 75 percent or higher compliance on all STEMI Receiving Center quality measures to improve the quality care of STEMI patients. 2013.

    Chest Pain Center Accreditation – Received from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care/American College of Cardiology. 2012, 2013.

    Lab Accreditation – Metro Health Hospital Main Laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologists or CAP. 2013.

    “A” Hospital Safety Score – The Hospital Safety Score was calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel using publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors and infections. U.S. hospitals were assigned an A, B, C, D or F for their safety. 2012.

    ASGE Certificate of Recognition of Quality in Endoscopy – Awarded by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Metro Health Outpatient Endoscopy was recognized as a unit that promotes quality in endoscopy through the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program (EURP). 2010.
