Excellence in Surgery
Everything in Metro Health’s surgery department is designed to improve your experience: the Dan and Eunice Pfeiffer Surgery Center that offers a comfortable waiting area and private consultation rooms for loved ones to talk to doctors, our prep and recovery area designed to provide patient privacy, our large surgical suites and our multidisciplinary surgery teams.
Behind the scenes, that same attention to detail is central to how our clinicians provide their services and why they’ve been recognized with numerous surgical quality awards.
Metro Health also participates in the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative (MSQC). MSQC is a collaborative of Michigan hospitals dedicated to overall surgical quality improvement, including better patient care and lower costs. Founded in 2005 under the sponsorship of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network, it provides hospitals with practical approaches to better patient outcomes and lower costs.
We also actively benchmark our results to other top hospitals to provide insight into how well we’re doing as an organization. Click here to learn more.
State-of-the-Art, High-Quality Surgery
In 2008, Metro Health added the daVinci Surgical System as a tool to improve surgical quality. The daVinci system is a state-of-the-art robotic platform that allows surgeons to perform complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions instead of through traditional incisions. This helps patients to recover more quickly and experience less discomfort.
Metro Health Hospital is also proud to be the first hospital in Michigan to offer RenaissanceTM Guided Spine Surgery. Renaissance is a specially-designed surgical guidance system that enables surgeons to provide safer and more accurate minimally-invasive and open spine surgeries. It allows our surgeons to pinpoint the exact location on the spine – with accuracy levels far superior to traditional free-hand surgeries.
