Dedicated Vent Unit Providing Support for Ventilator-Dependent Patients

The Metro Health Assisted Breathing Program is one of the leading vent units in Michigan.  We care for people who are ventilator dependent due to disease, injury or other conditions. Located within Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan, and minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, we are the only dedicated vent unit within a general acute care hospital in Michigan.

Here, patients have 24/7 access to medical and rehabilitation services  in a warm, friendly environment. Our experienced team of medical professionals collaborate to provide personalized and high-quality care for each patient.  We use technology and daily activities to assist with rehabilitation and to improve a patient’s quality of life. We also feature in-room ventilator dialysis support for our patients, one of the only vent units in West Michigan that features this service, streamlining patient care and ensuring the highest quality of care possible.

Our team has the knowledge and skill needed to help patients, when appropriate, successfully wean off the ventilator. We are known throughout the region for our expertise in weaning patients with more difficult cases from being ventilator dependent.

If you have questions concerning admission or referral to the Assisted Breathing Program, please contact our Admissions Coordinator at (616) 252-7630.
