Brooke Dylenski Named Best of Metro

Brooke Dylenski Web - Brooke Dylenski Named Best of MetroBrooke has worked at Metro Health for 15 years! She worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Endoscopy for 11 years. After graduating with her Nurse Practitioner degree she left Metro for three months, but realized how much she missed working here and returned, taking a position at Southwest in Pediatrics.

Brooke is known among her peers for always delivering the Best Patient Experience. “Brooke is always willing to take on more patients than her schedule allows,” explains her nomination form. She “frequently does follow up calls on her patients to see if they are feeling better.” For Brooke it’s just a matter of talking to the patients and their families, “I believe that by developing a relationship with them they are more apt to be compliant with their treatment plans,” she explains. “Sometimes they just need someone to talk to.” This has led to a bit of a running joke around the Southwest office. If anyone wonders about a patient, just ask Brooke; she’ll know the scoop.

When asked about a favorite Metro memory, Brooke thought back on an experience she had working with a patient that was particularly satisfying for her. “Having one of my teenage patients lose 60 pounds was very rewarding to me,” she explained. “It was awesome watching her self-esteem and confidence increase as she continued to lose weight. Obesity is a complex problem with children and adolescents and it is very difficult to be successful with a weight loss program.”

Brooke is very proud and honored to be recognized by her peers as the Best of Metro. In doing so, she wanted to make sure she had an opportunity to recognize and thank Dr. Alaa Salhadar, her supervising physician. “I have never worked with a physician that has supported and mentored me like he has,” she said. “He has such a warm heart and always has a joke to tell!”
