Dr. Douglas Doyle Selected as Physician Best of Metro

Douglas Doyle, DO

Douglas-DoyleDr. Doyle is an ophthalmologist at Metro Health Ophthalmology and has been working at Metro Health since 2003.

Dr. Doyle graduated from Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. He did a transitional internship at Metro Health and then went on to do his residency in Ophthalmology with Metro.

However, Dr. Doyle’s relationship with Metro didn’t begin with his internship. “My first experience with Metro Health was at the old hospital on Boston, having our oldest daughter in 1997 when I was a 3rd year medical student,” he explains. “I was completely overwhelmed with the care and compassion of everyone we encountered during our stay. The nurses, doctors, technicians, transporters, everyone we interacted with, made us feel like we were the most important patients in the hospital.”

Dr. Doyle is receiving the Physician Best of Metro because he was recently recognized with an Excellence through Insight award from Healthstream, Inc. for Overall Patient Experience in the Clinician & Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers & Systems (CG-CAHPS) survey.

Dr. Doyle was awarded this honor for his commitment to excellence in patient care. To qualify, a physician must score in the 75th percentile or higher. Healthstream conducts patient experience surveys for more than 10,000 physicians throughout the country, and Dr. Doyle was one of only 27 physicians to receive an award.

It could be said that the feelings Dr. Doyle experienced when his first daughter was born are still with him. “As a medical student, resident and now as an attending physician, I continue to witness the same level of compassion and care for all my patients,” he says. “It is this compassionate caring culture of Metro Health that makes me proud to be a member of this team.”

Dr. Doyle and his wife have six children. The kids are very busy and keep mom and dad busy with basketball, soccer, swimming, hockey and football. But they still find time for family movie nights and family vacations out west or to Lake Michigan.

Congratulations Dr. Doyle!
You are the Physician Best of Metro
