  • What is Triage?

Triage is a system of sorting that is based on giving treatment first to the patients who need it most.

When you are brought into Metro Health Emergency, a skilled triage nurse will conduct a brief exam. Based on this assessment, the nurse will decide what immediate steps should be taken.

Ensuring you are treated based on your clinical urgency is our priority. Your triage nurse will assign you to the best treatment area for your condition. As a result, you may not be taken to a treatment area in the order of your arrival to Metro Health Emergency. You will, however, be seen as quickly as possible.

If there are any changes in your condition or you have questions while in the waiting room, check with the triage nurse.
