John Mulder, MD 

John Mulder, M.D. is a leader in the field of palliative care. Improving the quality of life for his patients has always been a matter of service to Dr. Mulder and his career reflects that. As a nationally recognized authority on end-of-life issues and pain management, Dr. Mulder has become a sought-after speaker on these topics. He began his engagement in hospice, end of life care, and palliative medicine in 1984.  He was certified as a hospice and palliative medicine specialist in 2000.  Maintaining a passion for medical education he taught at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Meharry Medical College, and currently teaches at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.  He is also the director of the Mercy Health Grand Rapids Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.  Dr. Mulder had the distinction of providing Congressional testimony in the midst of the opioid crisis in 2018, and was selected to receive the 2019 AAHPM PDIA Palliative Medicine Community Leadership Award by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Continuing Education
1.0 contact hour of continuing nursing education will be awarded to those who attend the entire education activity and complete an evaluation form.
Metro Health – University of Michigan Health is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
