Five tips for a Happier Holidays
The holidays are packed with non-stop activity. While many look forward to the holiday season, it also can be hard to manage. Here are five ways to keep your spirits lifted during the holidays:
1.Volunteer at a local soup kitchen, food pantry or homeless shelter. Studies show that helping others increases your own level of happiness, plus you’re making someone else’s holidays brighter.
2.Get outside. Bundle up and head outdoors to enjoy fresh air and exercise. Getting sunshine on your face can also help fight symptoms of SAD (seasonal affective disorder). But don’t forget to apply sunscreen!
3.Do less, enjoy more. Don’t go overboard with trying to please others during the holiday. Take care of yourself and say no to that extra party and relax at home with family.
4.Start new traditions. Ask your friends or family if there are any new activities they would like to try. You may enjoy it so much, it becomes a fun new tradition.
5.Go tech-free. Constant cell phone alerts contribute to rising stress levels. Try turning your phone off during holiday parties so you can enjoy family and friends.
