Metro Health Hires New Vice President of Clinical Services

Cathy Campbell copy - Metro Health Hires New Vice President of Clinical ServicesMetro Health Hospital announced today that Kathleen M. Campbell has joined the hospital as vice president of clinical services.

Campbell will be responsible for developing and implementing an integrated model of clinical programs that control medical costs, create clinical efficiencies and improve health in support of the hospital’s short and long-term strategic goals. In collaboration with others on the leadership team, she will be integral in developing and implementing the organizational stragetic plan. Campbell will work closely with quality and information technology departments to identify gaps and opportunities for organizational performance improvement.

“We are pleased to welcome Kathy to Metro Health,” said Jamal Ghani, executive vice president and president of hospital operations. “She brings tremendous experience in patient care services and clinical integration, and we expect that she will be able to make immediate contributions to our organization.”

A registered nurse, Campbell brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience to her new role. Prior to joining Metro Health, Campbell served as vice president of patient care services/chief nursing officer at BryanLGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Neb. She was responsible for areas of patient care including critical care, care management, women’s and children’s services, medical-surgical services, rehabilitation, surgical services, laboratory and home health.

Campbell also previously served as vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Mich., and held multiple positions at the St. Joseph Health System-Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, Calif.  She has held positions at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Mary Free Bed Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, Holland Hospital and Saint Mary’s Mercy Medical Center. Campbell began her career as a pediatric staff nurse.

Campbell earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisc. as well as a master’s of public administration from Western Michigan University. She also attended the Johnson & Johnon-Wharton Fellowship Program in Management for Nurse Executives at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Campbell is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

A native of Grand Rapids, she currently resides in Grand Rapids.
