Metro Health Honored by Business Review for Innovation

innovation - Metro Health Honored by Business Review for InnovationMetro Health Hospital was honored by Business Review West Michigan during its annual Innovation awards – the second time since the awards began five years ago. Metro Health was again a finalist in the annual salute to businesses that drive the regional economy with innovative products, processes and ideas. The Hospital was recognized for developing the first fully integrated medical records in West Michigan.

The new system, MetroConnect, provides instant access for both patients and participating healthcare providers to medical records, including health history, test results, medications, diagnoses and treatments. MetroConnect makes it safer and easier to provide – and to receive – better healthcare, allowing patients to renew subscriptions online, correspond with their doctors via e-mail for basic questions, review bills and schedule appointments online.

Metro Health was honored during the inaugural Business Review awards in 2006 for its diabetic education program. The hospital established treatment protocols to standardize and improve the care it delivered to its more than 3,500 diabetic patients. The program – again, the first of its kind in West Michigan – allowed Metro Health to be recognized as a Diabetic Center of Excellence by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
