Metro Health Hospital Foundation Announces Fall Grants

The Metro Health Hospital Foundation has approved more than $125,000 in grants to support programs and services provided by the Hospital. Eight grants ranging from $4,000 to more than $35,000 will support a wide variety of initiatives, including the purchase of new equipment, the addition of new outreach programs and the expansion of educational services.

The 2008 fall grants include:

  • A pilot program in West Michigan that will allow all new mothers and family members providing care to newborns to receive free vaccinations against pertussis, a fatally contagious bacterial disease
  • Tuition assistance for uninsured or under-insured diabetic patients who need financial help to attend diabetic education classes to manage their disease
  • Purchase of new intubation training technology used in medical education, new technology for speech and language work in the Van Andel Center for Restorative Care and new ventilator technology
