Metro Health Hospital Foundation Announces Spring Grants
The Metro Health Hospital Foundation has approved more than $75,000 in grants to support programs and services provided by the Hospital.
Eight grants ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 will support a wide variety of initiatives, including the purchase of new equipment, research and continuing education programs and a new community-wide health-screening event to raise awareness of high-risk health conditions.
The 2011 spring grants include:
- Purchase of three laptops and projectors that will be used by diabetic educators working with patients off site. This equipment will allow Metro Health educators to expand off-site training and educational opportunities.
- A free health screening community event to raise awareness of high-risk conditions. Screenings include: blood pressure, glucose levels, cholesterol checks, bone density exams and pulmonary function testing.
- An electrical stimulation unit for physical therapy services offered at Metro Health Hudsonville, which is the second unit for the clinic. Due to increasing need by physical therapy patients, this unit will allow patients faster access to treatment and improve their healing time.
