Metro Health Hospital Foundation to Host Annual Fundraiser
Metro Health Hospital Foundation will host Feelin’ Grand, its premier fundraising event, on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. Proceeds from this year’s dinner will benefit the growing number of patients Metro Health sees through its Metro Care program. Metro Care provides discounted health services and a payment plan for community residents without adequate health insurance.
"Each year Metro Health could fill every single seat in the Van Andel Arena five times with the men, women and children we see who are unable to afford health insurance due to loss of a job, shrinking benefits, escalating deductibles or rising co-pays," said Laura Staskiewicz, chief development officer of the Metro Health Hospital Foundation. "We are pleased to be able to provide these patients with discounted services, flexible payment plans, free preventive screenings and tips on healthy living through our Metro Care program.
"The generous support of our donors through Feelin’ Grand 2009 and other sharing opportunities will allow us to extend this program to benefit even more members of our community."
Feelin’ Grand will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception and social hour at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. Dinner will follow at 7 p.m. The event will feature a special performance by comedian Dick Hardwick, as well as an appearance by the six-piece band The Bomb Squad.
Feelin’ Grand, is Metro Health’s annual black-tie event which has been held since 1993 with a special beneficiary for each year. Last year’s event attracted more than 900 people and helped raise nearly $400,000 for the latest technology available for the early detection of breast cancer.
Tickets are $200 per person and are now available. Fifty percent of the ticket price is tax-deductible. To purchase tickets or to receive information regarding sponsorship opportunities, call the Metro Health Hospital Foundation at 616.252.5000.
