Metro Health Hospital Foundation to Host Feelin’ Grand Sept. 21
Proceeds from the annual black-tie fundraiser will benefit Metro’s award-winning diabetes program, which provides education, health care and support for those diagnosed with diabetes. Metro Health, which has been designated as a Diabetic Center of Excellence, utilizes a team approach to provide complete and high-quality care to patients struggling to manage their diabetes.
Michigan has the 11th highest prevalence of diabetes in the nation. According to the Michigan Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, diabetes is ranked as the state’s sixth leading cause of death.
“Diabetes is a complicated disease that has reached near epidemic proportions in our country,” said Laura Staskiewicz, executive vice president of the Metro Health Hospital Foundation. “Metro’s program cares for more than 3,500 adult patients with diabetes each year. We utilize a team of certified diabetes educators, including nurses and dietitians, who work closely with primary care physicians to help patients successfully manage this disease.
“Your support through Feelin’ Grand will provide life-changing care and support that allows patients and families to live healthier lives.”
Feelin’ Grand will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and social hour at DeVos Place Steelcase Ballroom in downtown Grand Rapids. Dinner will follow at 7 p.m. “Last Comic Standing” winner John Heffron will provide entertainment for the event. In addition, Feelin’ Grand will include dancing and music by Nine Mile Smile.
Feelin’ Grand is Metro Health’s annual gala that has been held since 1993 with a special beneficiary for each year. In 2012, the Foundation raised more than $400,000 to support the hospital’s Child Life Program.
Tickets are $200 per person. Fifty percent of the ticket price is tax-deductible. To purchase tickets or to receive information regarding sponsorship opportunities, call the Metro Health Hospital Foundation at 616.252.5000 or visit metrohealth.net/feelingrand.
