Metro Health Names Robin Zylstra its 2007 Nurse Exemplar

July 25, 2007

Metro Health Hospital has named Robin Zylstra its 2007 Nurse Exemplar.

The award is given annually to recognize a registered nurse on staff at
Metro involved in direct patient care who has demonstrated exceptional
nursing practice. Candidates are nominated by their peers, and Metro’s
Professional Nursing Council evaluates nominations based on the nurses’
ability to deliver outstanding care, stimulate critical thinking in
their peers, provide continuous assistance, serve as mentors and
positively influence the work of the entire health-care team.

Zylstra joined Metro Health in 1974 and has worked in a variety of
areas, including radiology. She currently works in out-patient surgery.

Her nomination form noted: "After spending only a few minutes in the
room, this RN is able to assess her patients specific needs and
efficiently formulates and carries out her plan of care around these
needs. She is consistantly sought out to answer questions from other
nurses in her department. Robin is passionate about learning and
embraces each change in our profession with excitement and confidence."

Zylstra now resides in Belmont.
