Metro Health Names William Rozell Physician of the Year

RozellWilliam pp - Metro Health Names William Rozell Physician of the YearMetro Health Hospital has named William Rozell, D.O., its 2010 Physician of the Year.

This marks the first year for the award, which will be given annually by Metro Health’s Professional Nursing Council to recognize a physician who exemplifies best practices and who also supports the role of nurses as part of the healthcare team. The hospital’s clinical nursing staff proposes candidates, and nominations are reviewed by the 12-member PNC, with the recipient selected by secret ballot.

Rozell specializes in interventional radiology as a member of Metro Health’s Specialty Physician Suite. Part of an emerging national trend toward more localized and convenient systems of health-care delivery, the Specialty Physician Suite offers joint space in a quasi time-share arrangement to physicians who rotate office locations throughout the week and provide services to Metro patients.

His nomination form noted: “Dr. Rozell is a professional role model because of the teaching he freely provides to patients, families and staff. He is also an amazing example of how to treat patients with compassion and respect, and he makes each patient feel special.

“He is down-to-earth, cares about the entire team and has the ability to motivate and inspire. He makes team members want to do and give more to their patients and is a wonderful example of the ‘Metro Way.’ No wonder patients and physicians frequently request him.”

Rozell received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has published a number of scientific papers and is a member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, American Osteopathic College of Radiology, American Osteopathic Association, Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and the Michigan Osteopathic Association, and is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology.

Rozell resides in the Grand Rapids with his wife Teri, and their four daughters.
