Metro Health to Provide On-Campus Health Care for Aquinas College

Metro Health has been chosen to provide on-campus health care services for the students, faculty and staff of Aquinas College.

Building on the strength of its current relationship providing sports medicine coverage to all Aquinas athletes, Metro Health will provide general medical care to the college’s nearly 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students. A team consisting of a physician, physician assistant and medical assistant from Metro Health began staffing the Aquinas College Health Center yesterday.

This is the second time that Metro Health has been chosen to provide on-campus health care for a West Michigan college or university students. In 2010, Grand Valley State University chose Metro Health to operate its on-campus health clinic.

“Metro Health enjoys strong relationships with Aquinas – and with most other colleges and universities –because of the sports medicine coverage we provide,” said Mike Faas, president and CEO of Metro Health. “Our new agreement with Aquinas is a natural extension of this long-term relationship with one of West Michigan’s leading private colleges. We are delighted that Aquinas has chosen Metro Health as its on-campus health care provider and look forward to the start of the semester.”

The clinic, which will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and until 3 p.m. on Friday, will provide complete physicals, women’s health services, immunizations, laboratory services, sports medicine, allergy care and other services. Additionally, students and faculty will have convenient access to additional health services, including X-rays and physical therapy, at the nearby Metro Health Cascade neighborhood outpatient center.

Lynda Furman, who currently serves as the manager of the Metro Health Sports Medicine Center, will manage the Metro Health Aquinas College Health Center.

Metro Health has a strong commitment to providing affordable, quality health care throughout the community at its conveniently located neighborhood outpatient centers and physician offices.
