Metro Health – University of Michigan Health and Spectrum Health Revise Adult ICU Visitor Restrictions

Metro Health – University of Michigan Health and Spectrum Health have revised their adult Intensive Care Unit visitor restrictions. As of tonight (March 25) at 9 p.m., no visitors will be allowed in either of the organizations’ adult ICUs.

The move is intended to help keep patients, family members and team members safe during the COVID-19 situation, to comply with State of Michigan orders and to preserve personal protective equipment, or PPE, for health care workers who are at risk.

This is a rapidly evolving situation, and information is subject to change. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understand this is an extremely difficult time for everyone.

Metro Health and Spectrum Health both offer virtual visitor options to those who have family members in the ICU as a way to connect with their loved ones.

The revised no-visitor restriction does not include the pediatric ICU or neonatal ICU at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital continues to allow one visitor per patient in the pediatric ICU, neonatal ICU and general medical areas.
