Metro Health Welcomes Two Specialists
Metro Health Hospital today welcomed two physicians to its growing specialty practices.
Dr. Michael Jakubowski will provide physical medicine and rehabilitation services at the Wyoming, Michigan-based community hospital while Dr. James Spoto is employed as an ear, nose and throat specialist.
“We are pleased to welcome Mike and Jay to the growing ranks of our specialty physicians,” said Mike Faas, president and CEO of Metro Health. “Our patients regularly tell us that they prefer to receive all their medical care from Metro Health. In response to increasing patient demand, we have added specialists such as cardiologists, ophthalmologists and others to our growing list of primary care physicians.”
Jakubowski brings many years of experience in rehab and internal medicine to Metro Health. He has spent the past two decades in private practice in Grand Rapids, which allowed him to serve in various leadership roles, including medical director of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Metro Health. He has also served in various leadership positions at Mary Free Bed, including chief of staff, and has also served on the board.
Board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and other areas, Jakubowski has also worked at Henry Ford Hospital and St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, N.Y. He did his undergraduate work at Cornell University and earned a medical degree from the University of Michigan.
Prior to joining Metro Health, Spoto was a partner at Shoreline ENT in Muskegon. He did his ENT internship and residency at Metro Health.
A native of Rochester, N.Y, Spoto holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester in New York and a doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Midwestern University in Phoenix.
