Patient Confidentiality

We take patient confidentiality very seriously and follow HIPAA guidelines.

If you request information about a patient, you must ask using the patient’s first and last name. If the patient has indicated he or she does not want to be in the patient registry, we will not be able to answer your questions or be able to tell you if that person is a patient or not.

When providing patient conditions, these are the terms we will use and what they mean:

  • Undetermined. Patient awaiting physician and assessment.
  • Good. Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
  • Fair. Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable. Indicators are favorable.
  • Serious. Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
  • Critical. Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.

If you are requesting an interview with a patient, we will ask the patient if he or she is willing to participate in the interview, and we will ask the patient to complete our consent form.

Please call ahead before arriving at the hospital to request a patient or employee interview.
