Device Implantation & Management

The cardiologists at Metro Health Heart & Vascular are trained for diagnosing, monitoring and treating a heart that is beating too fast or too slow.

Irregular heartbeats (cardiac arrhythmias) can cause fainting. An implantable loop recorder saves a recording of the heart rhythms before, during and after a fainting episode, which can be evaluated by a physician to help determine the cause.

If an irregular heartbeat is detected, your physician may use an electrical shock (cardioversion) to reset it. Electrodes are placed on your chest that send an electrical shock straight to your heart. For most people, a cardioversion quickly restores a normal heart rhythm.

Device Implantation

Metro Health has a variety of tools to address these long-term problems with heart rhythm:

  • Implantable pacemakers
  • Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD)
  • Implantable loop recorder

To maintain your implanted device, our Heart & Vascular program offers a pacemaker/ICD device clinic for follow-up evaluations to ensure that your unit is working correctly and effectively.
