Teresa Schaal Joins Metro Health Hospital Foundation
Teresa Schaal has joined the Metro Health Hospital Foundation as special gifts director.
Schaal brings more than 25 years of non-profit experience to her new position with the foundation. In her new role, Schaal will direct and manage a leadership gifts program and planning giving effort to benefit Metro Health Hospital. She will also assist with major campaign plans and develop and manage a stewardship program to complement leadership and planned gift efforts.
Prior to joining Metro Health, Schaal served as major gifts officer for the Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society. She was instrumental in the development and opening of Hope Lodge, the home-away-from-home for people who travel to Grand Rapids to receive cancer treatments that opened in 2008.
She has also worked in development for several West Michigan organizations, including Porter Hills Retirement Community, WGVU and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
Active in the community, Schaal is a graduate of Leadership Grand Rapids and Leadership West Michigan and currently serves as past chair of LWM. She is also very involved with the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids, serving as secretary of its board and membership chair, among other committee activities. She has served on the boards of Pilgrim Manor, Pilgrim Manor Foundation, and the West Michigan Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Schaal holds a bachelors of arts in psychology and communications from Hope College in Holland and a master’s degree in management from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids.
Originally from the Kalamazoo area, she now resides in East Grand Rapids with her son.
