Vladimir Ferrer, DO Named Physician Best of Metro!

Dr. Vladimir Ferrer, Physician Best of Metro GastroenterologistDr. Vladimir Ferrer is a gastroenterologist on staff at Metro and has an office located in the Professional Building on the Metro Campus. He has been part of Metro since his externship as a third year medical student in 1999. He attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, class of 2001, and completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Metro Health. Dr. Ferrer went on to complete a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI, and then returned to Metro and became part of the Medical Staff in 2007. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Ferrer’s nominations cite his commitment to providing compassionate patient care and support of education. A staff member indicated he treats every patient as if they were his parent, grandparent or child. He communicates well with patients explaining every detail and never makes them feel rushed. He always educates his patients and encourages them to bring family members in for more education or to discuss their fears and concerns. Dr. Ferrer is very eager to teach each and every employee and always willing to share knowledge and expertise with residents, students and staff. He is also known to have a great sense of humor.

Dr. Ferrer states, ” I have always had an appreciation for my training here especially after visiting other facilities around the state. It felt natural to return to Metro and become part of a familiar environment and system. My favorite Metro memory was returning from fellowship and reconnecting with the same excellent staff and colleagues as well as becoming a mentor for the residents. This award means recognition and appreciation for the work and efforts done on a daily basis with a great team behind you. It is important to recognize all levels of patient care and I feel grateful for the recognition at the subspecialty level. I feel that bringing excellent quality of care along with great patient satisfaction makes the best patient, employee and physician experience in the community.

Dr. Ferrer is married, has 2 daughters, ages 9 and 7 and enjoys sports and playing guitar.
